SPECIAL GRANT OPPORTUNITY

The Chuck Haugen Conservation Fund (CHCF) is excited to offer small grants to volunteers and non-profit organizations in order to achieve our mission.  Projects can be small, large, volunteer, or professional.  Grants can be used to begin, complete or continue environmental conservation projects within the Monterey Bay Area. The grant awards will range from $100 to $2,500.

The deadline to submit applications is May 1st, 2010 at 5pm.  We anticipate making a decision by May 21st, with funds distributed by June 15th.

Here is a list of past grant recipients and the types of projects that we have helped fund:

  • Philomene Smith / BLM volunteer: received funds for weed eradication experiment
  • Return of the Natives: received funds to purchase restoration supplies
  • Beach Garden Project: received funds to purchase dune propagation supplies
  • Elkhorn Slough Reserve: received funds to purchase restoration supplies
  • Watsonville Wetlands Watch: received funds to purchase restoration supplies, boots, gloves, and hand trowels
  • Friends of Manzanita Park: received funds to purchase weed bash supplies
  • High Ground Organics: received funds to offset cost of 1 year of grassland restoration monitoring
  • Ventana Wildlife Society: received funds for weed abatement and restoration projects
  • Carmel Valley Steelhead Association: received funds for California Conservation Corps labor
