Description:
The Watsonville Wetlands Watch 2010 Docent Training Program will begin on Feb. 24. Docents trainees will be treated to an inside look at the Pajaro Valley and its wide network of wetlands. Local experts will share the ecology, history and restoration of the wetlands during this 7-week program, which includes Wednesday evening presentations and Saturday morning field trips.
New docents will be prepared to lead walks and assist with field trips. Docents also have the opportunity to help with community events, participate in wetlands restoration, work in the library or greenhouse at the Fitz Wetlands Education Resource Center, and work on special projects.

EVERY First Saturday of the month since January 2003 we've returned to this beautiful Monterey pine forest to restore a 15-acre area formerly dominated by the weedy French Broom on the East Side of Point Lobos State Reserve. The event runs from 1-4pm. We�ll use several techniques to remove French broom and help restore this area that wants to thrive

The Watsonville Wetlands Watch 2010 Docent Training Program will begin on Feb. 24. Docents trainees will be treated to an inside look at the Pajaro Valley and its wide network of wetlands. Local experts will share the ecology, history and restoration of the wetlands during this 7-week program, which includes Wednesday evening presentations and Saturday morning field trips.
New docents will be prepared to lead walks and assist with field trips. Docents also have the opportunity to help with community events, participate in wetlands restoration, work in the library or greenhouse at the Fitz Wetlands Education Resource Center, and work on special projects.

Veeder Pond: This vernal pool and surrounding meadow are one of the most tranquil spots in Garland, supporting a variety of flora and fauna. Meet at the East Garzas Rd. trailhead for an invigorating 3-4 hour hike up the Veeder trail, down the East Ridge trail overlooking Redwood Canyon, and back along the Terrace trail. What?
Every 3rd Sunday (since January 2003!) we assemble volunteers to help restore coastal habitats by removing invasive plants such as Cape ivy from one of Monterey County's most beautiful coastal locations. Easy or difficult tasks depending on your mood.
Where?
The project site is 7 miles south of Hwy 1 but we meet at the Rio Rd. Park n Ride next to the Black Bear Diner across from the Chevron gas station. Then we carpool 7 miles south of Carmel River in consideration of everyone's needs and schedules.
Why?
Lot's of fun and ocean spray at a stunningly beautiful location. Its also a fulfilling project and you'll learn alot while contributing to the cause of helping our beautiful wild lands!
How?
Bring water, wear gardening type, layered clothing, closed-toed and sturdy, shoes, and wear long-sleeves and pants. Healthy and delicious snacks are provided. You'll love it!!

You'll have access to 8,000 acres of beautiful vistas and natural habitats while you help improve their health and the health of your body and soul by removing invasive weeds, collection native seeds, planting native plants, helping with plant inventories and learning to use new tools to map and restore wild lands.
Phone in before you attend your first volunteer day and prepare to arrive at 945am to fill out volunteer form.
Elkhorn Slough Reserve Tours
Description:
Join us on a volunteer/docent led walk along one Elkhorn Slough Reserve's beautiful trails. Come experience oak woodland, marsh, tidal flats, mudflats, prairie, the plants and animals therein, and possibly more. Aware winning exhibits in our Visitor Center. Visitor Center and picnic area are free. There is a $2.50 fee for day-use of the trails. No direct fee for the guided walk.
Docent-led tours of the Reserve are held every Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
There is also an early birding walk the first Saturday of every month at 8:30 a.m.
All tours meet at the Visitor Center, rain or shine.

Santa Cruz Rivers and Parks (S.C.R.A.P) is a grassroots organization working to revive urban rivers and parkways. The current focus of SCRAP is the San Lorenzo River from Highway 1 to the ocean.

EVERY First Saturday of the month since January 2003 we've returned to this beautiful Monterey pine forest to restore a 15-acre area formerly dominated by the weedy French Broom on the East Side of Point Lobos State Reserve. The event runs from 1-4pm. We�ll use several techniques to remove French broom and help restore this area that wants to thrive
with native plants. Meet at 1pm in Carmel on Rio Rd. in the Park n� Ride in front of the now-closed Black Bear Diner
(across from the Chevron Gas Station) one block from Hwy 1. All supplies
provided. Bring a friend, water, and a snack.
