Elkhorn Slough Reserve Tours
- Description:
- Join us on a volunteer/docent led walk along one Elkhorn Slough Reserve's beautiful trails. Come experience oak woodland, marsh, tidal flats, mudflats, prairie, the plants and animals therein, and possibly more. Aware winning exhibits in our Visitor Center. Visitor Center and picnic area are free. There is a $2.50 fee for day-use of the trails. No direct fee for the guided walk.
Docent-led tours of the Reserve are held every Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
There is also an early birding walk the first Saturday of every month at 8:30 a.m.
All tours meet at the Visitor Center, rain or shine.

[10:00am] Mill Creek Redwood Hike
- Description:
- Tremendous Trees of Mill Creek: Meet at the Mill Creek Trailhead on Palo Colorado Rd. for a leisurely 3-4 hour hike through redwoods and tan oaks, including a stop for lunch on a sunny knoll with spectacular views of the ocean. Elevation gain: 230 ft. Distance: 5.5 miles. Bring water and lunch. This is a very popular hike please reserve your spot early. Leader: Andy Weiss, 236-7690
[11:00am] CNPS Weed Bash - Soberanes Creek

- What?
Every 3rd Sunday (since January 2003!) we assemble volunteers to help restore coastal habitats by removing invasive plants such as Cape ivy from one of Monterey County's most beautiful coastal locations. Easy or difficult tasks depending on your mood.
Where?
The project site is 7 miles south of Hwy 1 but we meet at the Rio Rd. Park n Ride next to the Black Bear Diner across from the Chevron gas station. Then we carpool 7 miles south of Carmel River in consideration of everyone's needs and schedules.
Why?
Lot's of fun and ocean spray at a stunningly beautiful location. Its also a fulfilling project and you'll learn alot while contributing to the cause of helping our beautiful wild lands!
How?
Bring water, wear gardening type, layered clothing, closed-toed and sturdy, shoes, and wear long-sleeves and pants. Healthy and delicious snacks are provided. You'll love it!!
