Elkhorn Slough Reserve Tours
- Description:
- Join us on a volunteer/docent led walk along one Elkhorn Slough Reserve's beautiful trails. Come experience oak woodland, marsh, tidal flats, mudflats, prairie, the plants and animals therein, and possibly more. Aware winning exhibits in our Visitor Center. Visitor Center and picnic area are free. There is a $2.50 fee for day-use of the trails. No direct fee for the guided walk.
Docent-led tours of the Reserve are held every Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
There is also an early birding walk the first Saturday of every month at 8:30 a.m.
All tours meet at the Visitor Center, rain or shine.

- Description:
- Join other volunteers to plant native plants at the beach for habitat restoration on the dunes.
Beach Garden Project is a volunteer project that aims to restore degraded areas of coastal dunes to native plant habitat that supports many native animals and plants.
[10:00am] Hike Kahn Ranch Addition to Garland Park
- Description:
- Tucked away in the southeastern end of the park, this secluded addition to Garland Ranch Regional Park boasts beautiful vistas and a bubbling waterfall in winter. Enjoy a 2-3 hour hike on the breathtaking Hitchcock Loop. Elevation gain: approx. 1,100 ft. Distance: approx. 3.7 miles.
[1:00pm] Pt. Lobos Weed Bash
- Description:
- EVERY First Saturday of the month since January 2003 we've returned to this beautiful Monterey pine forest to restore a 15-acre area formerly dominated by the weedy French Broom on the East Side of Point Lobos State Reserve. The event runs from 1-4pm. We�ll use several techniques to remove French broom and help restore this area that wants to thrive
with native plants. Meet at 1pm in Carmel on Rio Rd. in the Park n� Ride in front of the now-closed Black Bear Diner
(across from the Chevron Gas Station) one block from Hwy 1. All supplies
provided. Bring a friend, water, and a snack.
